Kids, parents raise money for teacher

Children and parents from the Hill and Dale Child Development Center in Las Vegas have rallied behind a sick teacher, raising money with a bake sale and yard sale earlier this month to help the ailing teacher's family.

The teacher is in the intensive care unit at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and has been hospitalized since Oct. 26, center spokesman Bronson Mack said.

The teacher is 56 years old and a Las Vegas resident with one child. The center is not releasing her name, and center officials do not know what her illness is, Mack said.

A group of 85 students and their parents raised $600 with a bake sale on Nov. 16 and another $900 from a yard sale held Saturday, he said.

The money is going to the teacher's family, he said.

The Hill and Dale center, 3720 E. Tropicana Ave., was established in 1975, serves children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten, and has an after-school programs for first through fifth graders.
