SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court today certified the results from the Nov. 5 election showing 509,702 people or 58.5 percent of the eligible voters cast ballots.
There were no changes in the outcomes. Justices Bill Maupin, Miriam Shearing, Deborah Agosti and Marvin Leavitt checked the figures compiled by the Secretary of State's Office.
Each county commission has already conducted a canvass of the votes in their areas and send the results to Secretary of State Dean Heller, the chief election officer.
Final certified results show Gov. Kenny Guinn received 68.1 percent of the vote to defeat Democrat Sen. Joe Neal who had 21.9 percent. Rep. Shelley Berkley polled 53.7 percent in Congressional District 1 compared with 42.7 percent for Lynette Maria Boggs-McDonald.
State Sen. Jon Porter, a Republican, won 58 percent of the vote in Congressional District 3 in Clark County compared with 37.2 percent for Clark County Commissioner Dario Herrera, a Democrat.
