Columnist Peter Benton: Byorick-Knott pairing wins ‘Fun Day’ event

Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.

The Southern Nevada Women's Golf Association's "Golf for Fun Days" Tournament, played at the Paiute Golf Resort, saw the pairing of Rita Byorick and Brenda Knott from Badlands Golf Club win low gross in the first flight with a 36-hole score of 153. Helina Vergiels and Linda Wade, representing the Las Vegas Country Club, won low net with 132.

Badlands' Ryuko Dragovich and Angel Park's Suzanne Desmarais won second flight low gross with a 166 while D'Anne Daniels (LVCC) and Badland's Barbara Kelly won low net. Their score was 129.

Winning closest-to-the-pin honors were Sarah Bowman (Oasis); Terry Hall (Sun City); Lois Harper (Angel Park); and Debby Hyland, (LVCC).

Brenda Knott, Jan Morisseau, (Red Rock); Chris Raymond, (TPC); and Linda Wynn, (Angel Park); were closest-to-the-line winners.

He won four times, recorded 22 top-10 finishes in 27 starts and earned a $1 million tax-free annuity by capturing the Charles Schwab Cup.
