A 46-year-old man visiting Las Vegas from Arizona died Wednesday of gunshot wounds he sustained last week while sitting in his car near Charleston Boulevard and Eastern Avenue.
Edward Stranz of Prescott, Ariz., died at University Medical Center where he had been listed in critical condition since the shooting Nov. 14.
Stranz was sitting in his 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora in the 2100 block of Franklin Avenue about 9:20 p.m. when he was shot once with a .38-caliber handgun, Metro Police Sgt. Rocky Alby said. The bullet went into his left shoulder and came out his right shoulder.
Someone called 911 and police found Stranz unconscious in his car. He never regained consciousness, Alby said.
Several other people were in the car with Stranz when the shooting occurred. They weren't hurt.
The witnesses described the shooter as a black man in his late teens, about 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He had a shaved head and was wearing baggy pants and a white T-shirt, the witnesses said.
