The Thompson twins, two of Nevada's top young girls tennis players, will head to South Bend, Ind., for their collegiate career.
Catrina and Christian Thompson both signed National Letters of Intent with Notre Dame on Tuesday, fulfilling their wish to remain together through college.
"They didn't want to get too far away from home," said Bob Thompson, the twins' father. "Yet they wanted to get the big-time athletic things in there."
Bob Thompson said his daughters were recruited by more than 40 schools, with UCLA, USC, Stanford, Florida and Harvard as some of the more attractive suitors. A fall recruiting visit on the weekend of a Michigan-Notre Dame football game helped the seal the Thompson girls' decision.
The Thompsons helped Bishop Gorman to the 4A state title in girls tennis this season, splitting up and taking other partners to form two formidable doubles teams for the Gaels.
