Man gets life in sister's killing
A Las Vegas man convicted of killing his sister was sentenced Monday to life in prison.
District Judge Joseph Bonaventure handed down two life sentences to Brad McCullough in the kidnapping and strangulation death of Keri McCullough.
McCullough, 50, will be eligible for parole after 17 years.
He was also sentenced to 60 months for coercion, with a possibility of parole after 24 months. Bonaventure ordered that McCullough serve the sentences consecutively.
Keri McCullough, 36, was found July 29 in a dumpster at an apartment complex near West Cheyenne Avenue and Michael Way.
Two found guilty in beating, torture
A jury Friday found two Las Vegas men guilty of beating an acquaintance and torturing him with rubbing alcohol.
Avery Church and Rene Ross were convicted of six criminal counts each, which included first-degree kidnapping and attempted murder.
The pair also were convicted of burglary and robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.
They were acquitted on a single count of conspiracy to commit murder.
