Letter: Goodman a terrible mayor, bad example

Columnist Jeff German really pushed the "G" spot in his Nov. 3 column, "It's tough to take Goodman seriously." Oscar Goodman calls himself the "happiest mayor in the nation." Why not?
Here we have an elected official who admits to drinking too much, gambling too much and, in my opinion, "talking too much." In addition, he cons the populace "too much."
He also gets "paid too much." His salary may be chump change to him, but being paid at all proves what chumps those who elected this "do nothing" mayor really are. A 90 percent approval rating is obscene.
I have lived in Las Vegas some 55 years and during that time I have never witnessed such a display of arrogance and ignorance in a so-called leader of this community. He boasts of his drinking and gambling and then blames it on the town he lives in. What an example for the youth of Las Vegas. I ask this one question of Mayor Goodman: In the past three years, what is one positive thing you have done for the city (thank God I live in the county) that has come to fruition? Simple answer: Nothing.
Goodman has authorized the expenditure of millions of dollars that have been wasted on his hare-brained ideas. Now he wants to assume the responsibility of handling the 61 acres that lie fallow near the Union Pacific.
During my lengthy stay here in Las Vegas, I have seen many mayors, and in closing, I confess: Never have I seen such a comedic bobblehead as Oscar Goodman.
