Stand Down for Homeless set
Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 | 9:19 a.m.
The 10th annual Stand Down for the Homeless will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Volunteers from the Southern Nevada Homeless Coalition, several companies and social service agencies will come together to provide a one-day respite for homeless individuals and to help participants to return to self-sufficiency.
Personal care items such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, socks and razors, are donated by local businesses and distributed to participants, while the job fair helps people find employment.
Local judges will move their courtrooms to Cashman Center to handle misdemeanor cases and quash warrants, and volunteer attorneys will provide free legal advice and representation.
The Culinary Union, Salvation Army and Catholic Charities will prepare and serve lunch.
For more information, call Brian Brooks at 307-5414, Ext. 1318, or Charleen Aydt-Stann at 877-0133, Ext. 225.
