Letter: Democrats too frightened to fight for ideals
Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 | 3:32 a.m.
Democrats all over the country, and particularly in Nevada, should be ashamed of themselves. Not only could we not win an election with a warmongering president in the middle of a crappy economy, we couldn't produce more than a handful of candidates who weren't riddled with scandal and lacking any real vision.
We have become so frightened by the right wing and the blood money that it provides that we're afraid to be the party we should be. No longer do we represent the people. No longer are we the party that protects the environment, looks out for the forgotten or rights the wrongs done to the common citizen.
I was disgusted by the number of Democrats who were touting Republican issues to get elected. Why is it OK to spend billions of dollars and turn a surplus economy into a debt-riddled one on some trumped-up war with Iraq, but spending to help feed, house, provide medical care and job training for your citizens is suddenly the evil work of "liberals"?
The Democratic Party is dead -- where do I sign up for the Green Party?
