Skating to highlight Durango Hills opening
To celebrate the grand opening of Durango Hills Park, 3521 N. Durango Drive, the Extreme Adventure Sports Division will hold a skate event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The skate park will be open for bikes, skateboards and inline skaters. There will also be skate board and bike demonstrations and a rock climbing wall for all ages.
Admission is free and residents are invited to visit the food vendors on site and take part in free raffles and giveaways. There will also be live music featuring 7 Foot Midget, Broken Trustt, Magna-Fi and other entertainment.

Adventure recreation program is scheduled
Clark County Parks and Community Services is sponsoring several adventure recreation workshops including archery, rock climbing, gold prospecting, backpacking, copper enameled bead making and Laserquest during the month of November.
Pre-registration is requested and is being taken from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sunset Park Adventure Recreation Office.

MountainView hosts free diabetes help
MountainView Hospital presents Diabetes and You, a free community health education program from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital, 3100 N. Tenaya Way.
All attendees who are diabetic will receive a free Accu-Chek diabetes monitoring kit at the end of the class.
The presentation includes risk factors, signs, symptoms, treatments and lifestyle modifications associated with diabetes.

Seniors invited to welcoming brunch
The Henderson Senior Center, 27 E. Texas Ave., will host a newcomers welcoming brunch from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The event is open to seniors (age 50 and up) new to the Henderson area. Admission is $1.25 payable at the door, and includes a brunch of eggs, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice.
The brunch provides a forum for seniors new to the community to meet and mingle with their peers. During the brunch, participants will be introduced to a variety of activities and services available to Henderson seniors.

The Salvation Army
and Albertson's are holding a Coats 4 Kids drive now through Dec. 15. Boxes are in all Albertson's stores. Al Phillips will be cleaning all donated coats that will be given to children throughout Las Vegas by the Salvation Army. For more information, call 870-4430, Ext. 29.
The Nevada Home Ownership Council
