Twenty-eight employees at a Valence Technology Inc. factory in Henderson lost their jobs after the company cut 18 percent of its work force.
Kevin Mischnick, a Valence vice president, said Monday that the Austin, Texas-based company laid off the workers to streamline operations.
Mischnick said 40 people lost their jobs at plants in Henderson, Austin and northern Ireland. The company still employs 183 people at those plants, Mischnick said. Valence develops rechargeable batteries.
Valence said 53 workers remain on the job in Henderson.
