TRENTON, N.J. -- The New Jersey state Senate has approved the appointments of two high-ranking casino regulators, including the first woman to head the Casino Control Commission.
Linda Kassekert, 44, a former lobbyist for the New Jersey Education Association, was confirmed Thursday along with Thomas Auriemma, who was formally named director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement. Both nominations were approved without opposition.
Auriemma, 52, a lawyer and longtime casino regulator, has held the post on an interim basis since former director John Peter Suarez left in January. Suarez has since taken a job in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under former Gov. Christie Whitman.
