Eugene Kingsale and Aaron Holbert hit home runs and Ken Cloude won his seventh game as the Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Las Vegas 51s 6-2 Thursday night.
Cloude (7-3) allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings against the top hitting team in the Pacific Coast League. Tacoma relievers Brian Fitzgerald, Aquilino Lopez and Matt Jarvis combined for 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
The 51s got both of their runs on solo homers by Phill Hiatt, but it wasn't enough offense for pitcher Victor Alvarez (4-5).
Attorneys for the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, the Twins and major league baseball are close to a settlement that would resolve a lawsuit and preserve the Twins for 2003.
