Cure Asthma golf tournament set

The LandWell Co. Cure Asthma Golf Classic will begin with registration at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rio Secco Golf Club in Seven Hills, Henderson. The tournament will get under way with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the ninth annual tournament and silent auction benefit the National Jewish Medical and Research Center, a Denver medical facility devoted to research, patient care and education for chronic lung, allergic and immune system diseases.

Entry packages start at $500 per golfer and include greens fees, cart, lunch, tee gifts, complimentary beverages and dinner. The tournament will feature a four-player scramble and prizes will be awarded for straightest drive and closet to the pin.

Got mold? Some tips on survival

Mold Survivors of America presents Mold in America: Coming to a Home Near You, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., to help mold victims become survivors and answer questions such as:

What is mold and what causes it? How do I prevent it? How can we possibly have all this mold in the dry desert climate of Las Vegas? How do I know if I have it? Can it make me sick? How do I get rid of it?

The keynote speakers are Linda Stetzenbach, director of the Harry Reid Center for Microbiology, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and John Terranova, president of Terranova Mold.Com.

Teen Talk program scheduled Saturday

The Las Vegas Department of Neighborhood Services and the Southern Nevada Coalition of Concerned Women are sponsoring the first Teen Talk 2002 youth forum Saturday.

The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by the forum from 9 a.m. until noon at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The program encourages teens to express their opinions and feelings on the issues young people face today. Participants are encouraged to engage in a constructive dialogue on youth leadership, community involvement, positive role models and other important topics.

Southern Nevada communities will celebrate

National Trails Day at 7 a.m. Saturday at Floyd Lamb State Park. The free event will feature morning runs, horseback rides and bicycle trips followed by lunch. For more information, call 645-5181.

Henderson Police will host a rape prevention

and self-defense class for women from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Emergency Services, 223 Lead St., that will instruct women on how not to present themselves as "the victim type" and how to protect themselves if attacked. For more information, call 249-1698.
