CASA plans its annual golf event
The Court Appointed Special Advocate Foundation will host its annual golf tournament beginning with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Monday at Canyon Gate Country Club, on West Sahara Avenue between Durango Drive and Fort Apache Road.
The entrance fee is $225, which includes cart use, a continental breakfast and buffet lunch.

Henderson to host Hearts 'n' Parks
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will present the Hearts 'n' Parks program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Whitney Ranch Aquatic Complex, 1575 B Galleria Drive.
The event will feature contests, games, park tours, swimming, and a variety of programs that concentrate on enhancing the quality of life through fitness and recreation.
The event is open to all ages -- children under 8 must be supervised by a parent or guardian. For more information, call 565-2880.
Red Rock offers meeting with tortoise
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge, but reservations are required. To make reservations or for more information, call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:
You can meet "A Desert Tortoise Live and in Person," and learn how this reptile is uniquely adapted to its desert environment, from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday.
Join Ranger Jim on Friday for "Bat Time," a program that explores evening bat activities of Red Rock Canyon.
"Hike Leader's Choice" is a seven-mile strenuous mountain trek Friday past a 3000-year-old bristlecone pine.
Dr. Wes Brown, a missionary
serving in Prague, Czech Republic, will be the guest speaker during the worship services at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday at Warm Springs Baptist Church, 2075 E Warm Springs Road. A luncheon will follow the services with a discussion of faith and cultural issues in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Call 361-7070.
The Jewish Community Center
presents "Jest, Comedy and Cakes," a fund-raiser at 7 p.m. Sunday at Palms' Rain in the Desert, to support the wide variety of social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs the JCC offers to the entire community. Tickets are $50. For more information, call 794-0090.
An Affair to Remember the Children
will be begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St., Boulder City, featuring cocktail, food, and music. Tickets are $100. For more information, call 510-9594.
Lola Gillebaard, a cancer survivor
and noted authority on the art of using humor as a managing, healing and teaching tool, will be speaking during a program from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway. The National Cancer Survivors Day program is aimed at providing inspiration and hope to adults and children living with cancer. Participants are asked to RSVP by calling 731-8788.
