Columnist Peter Benton: Mental skills workshop set for UNLV

Wednesday, May 29, 2002 | 8:35 a.m.

Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.

Noted sports psychologist Dr. Kevin Roby, who has assisted scores of area golfers by maximizing their talents on the golf course through his mental skills training, has scheduled another seminar for the general public on Friday, June 7 from 7-9 p.m. at the UNLV Continuous Education Department.

This two-hour course will familiarize golfers with many of the mental techniques utilized by dozens of professionals.

Although virtually every serious golfer recognizes the importance of the game's mental aspects, very few players make a serious effort to learn them.

Topics to be covered in Roby's seminar include developing and maintaining confidence, concentration and emotional control and implementing strategies to improve your game and course management.

For further information regarding the Mental Strategies for Great Golf seminar please call 895-3391.

Roby will be giving the same seminar on Tuesday, June 4 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the TPC Summerlin. For more information about that session, call 256-2000.

This year's 4-person scramble is scheduled for Monday, June 24 at Las Vegas Country Club.

The field will be limited to 144 players with the $175 per player entry fee including greens fee, cart, lunch, $60 tee package, Continental breakfast, prizes, hole in one awards and more.

Full entry information is available by calling 364-0079.
