Tuesday, May 28, 2002 | 8:18 a.m.

The Bureau of Land Management will honor Chuck and Pat Williams of Las Vegas with the Making a Difference National Volunteer Award Thursday in Washington, D.C.

The Williamses are volunteers of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and are members of Friends of Red Rock Canyon. Both became members in 1999.

Pat served as membership chairwoman and recently worked for the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association and managed the Visitors Center Book Store.

Chuck became the president of Friends in 2000, and both he and Pat have increased financial support for Red Rock. For more information on volunteer opportunities with BLM, contact Debra Kolkman at (775) 289-1946.
