The Service Employees International Union Local 1107 won an election Wednesday to represent nearly 170 paramedics and emergency medical technicians of Las Vegas ambulance company American Medical Response.

Mike Chavez, the National Labor Relations Board's resident officer, said 129 of the 168 eligible AMR paramedics and emergency medical technicians voted. The employees voted 77-52 to accept the union, he said.

Separately, the SEIU lost an election to represent 32 full-time and part-time drivers of non-emergency medical transportation company Nevada Medi-Car. Chavez said the employees voted 7-14 on Wednesday to reject the union.
