Anthony A. Amato Sr.

Anthony A. Amato Sr., 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Italy. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired sanitation worker and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony A. Amato Jr. and Joseph Amato, both of Las Vegas, and Michael Amato of Lorain, Ohio; one sister, Mary Marotta of Simi Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Martha Arnetta Barcelona

Martha Arnetta Barcelona, 87, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born July 27, 1914, in Moundsville, W.Va. A resident for many years, she was a toy company pressor.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha Pylee of Moundsville.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Moundsville. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Norma F. Carroll

Norma F. Carroll, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. A retired manager at an off-track betting parlor, she was born May 17, 1931, in Syracuse, N.Y.

She is survived by one sister, Esther Jusza of Vernon, N.Y.; one brother, William Bingham of Kingsville, Mo.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mario Patrick Carione

Mario Patrick Carione, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired railroad conductor, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Edwina; one brother, Vincent; and one sister, Antonette.

Cassandrea E. Diaz

Cassandrea E. Diaz, 18, of Las Vegas and Madera, Calif., died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1983, in Madera. A resident for two years, she was a 12th-grade Cimarron High School student.

She is survived by her parents, Cynthia and Francisco Diaz, and two sisters, Ashley Diaz and Megan Diaz, all of Madera; and her grandparents, Diamantina and Ruben Murrieta of Las Vegas, Juanita Marmolejo and Jose Carmen Diaz, both of Fresno, Calif.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling local arrangements. Out-of-state services will be handled by Jay Chapel in Madera.

Maxine J. Force

Maxine J. Force, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Lueders, Texas. A resident for more than 33 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Reynolds of Houston and Kim Reynolds of Phoenix; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Maymie Goulding

Maymie Goulding, 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born July 15, 1917, in Illinois. A resident for five years, she was a retired clerical secretary for Avon.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Goulding.

Lorraine L. Kelchner

Lorraine L. Kelchner, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born April 10, 1921, in Los Angeles. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired executive secretary for a public utility.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Marshall of Palmdale, Calif., and Steve Marshall of Castaic, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Michael J. Kennedy

Michael J. Kennedy, 52, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1950, in Chicago. A resident for seven years, he was a computer engineer for IBM and a former Air Force sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; one son, Michael, and one daughter, Lisa, both of Las Vegas; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 4219 Candleberry Court. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Fay Lejoy Loter

Fay Lejoy Loter, 74, of Pioche, died May 17 in Ely. She was born May 24, 1927, in Oklahoma. A resident for 62 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D.; two sons, Terry Loter of Las Vegas and Clark Loter of Colorado; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ethel Mae McCoy

Ethel Mae McCoy, 96, of Pahrump died Wednesday in Pahrump. She was born April 9, 1906, in Oskaloosa, Kan. A resident for 32 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Otto McCoy and Robert McCoy, both of Pahrump, and James McCoy of Long Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Ruth Kaeding of Bend, Ore., and Mary McCoy and Betty Hatcher, both of Pahrump; one sister, Mary Platter of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday in Chief Tecopa Cemetery. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kingdom Hall of Pahrump. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.

Hunter James Polk

Hunter James Polk, 6 1/2 months, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 6, 2001, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Lucia and Kashi Polk, and one brother, Bradley Polk, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Takasha Polk of Ontario, Calif.; her grandparents, Sherry Polk and William Johnston, both of Inglewood, Calif., Gwendolyn and James T. Williams of Las Vegas and Patricia and Michael Rice of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and his two great-grandmothers, Lucia Gite of New Orleans and Armatine Williams of Selma, Ala.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a noon service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Irene Potter

Irene Potter, 99, of Boulder City died Tuesday in Boulder City. She was born Oct. 13, 1902, in Nezperce, Idaho. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired owner-operator of a photo finishing studio.

She is survived by one brother, John Moser of Boulder City.

Graveside services were scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Cecilia V. Ramos

Cecilia V. Ramos, 62, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 14, 1940, in the Philippines. A resident for many years, she was a packer for a manufacturing company.

She is survived by her husband, Jose S.; three sons, Miggelito Ramos, Jose S. Ramos Jr., and Ferdinand Ramos, and one daughter, Inelda Ramos, all of the Philippines; one sister, Norma V. Roofner, and one brother, Ernesto Villablanca, both of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will be in the Philippines.

Bob Rose

Bob Rose, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 22, 1948, in Fire Creek, W.Va. A resident for seven years, he was a city government foreman and a member of General Contractors Union 589.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; one daughter, Billy Rose of Las Vegas; three sons, Brent Rose, Bryan Rose and Bobby Rose, all of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Rose Rose, two sisters, Martha Perez and Ruth Smallwood, and one brother, David Rose, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Steven Lee Simons, 45, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1957, in California. A resident for 22 years, he was a retail store stock clerk.

He is survived by his father, Robert of Las Vegas; and one sister, Pamela D. Simons of Riverside, Calif.

Leona Mae Singer

Leona Mae Singer, 45, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1956, in Moose Lake, Minn. A resident for 25 years, she was a dealer.

She is survived by one son, Gregory Singer of Las Vegas; her parents, Wallace and Delores Mitchell of Grantsburg, Wis.; one sister, Renee Minick of North Branch, Minn.; and one brother, Jamie Mitchell of Grantsburg.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Carl E. Smith

Carl E. Smith, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1923,in Lovelock. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired teacher and administrator for the Clark County School District and UNLV for 25 years, a World War II Navy veteran, a charter member of Delta Rho Field Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Elks Lodge 1468, American Legion and Secondary Schools Principal Association.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Susan Shevlin and Carlene Simon, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Fran Bradley of Fernley, Kay Gottschalk of Reno and Ruth Carpenter of Lovelock; one brother, Matt Smith of Twin Falls, Idaho; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in The Lakes Lutheran Church, 8200 W. Sahara Ave.

Thomas S. Thornburg Jr.

Thomas S. Thornburg Jr., 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 5, 1923, in Dodge City, Kan. A resident for six years, he was a retired World War II Marine Corps veteran, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10047, China Post 1, Shanghai-American Legion, Marine Corps League and City of Straits Trinity 502 F&AM.

He is survived by one sister, Gene Elliott of Santa Rosa, Calif.

June Elaine VanHoy

June Elaine VanHoy, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born May 30, 1919, in Watertown, N.Y. A resident for 42 years, she was a bookkeeper at the El Cortez.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; and one brother, Richard Rankin of Watertown.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A private burial will be in Davis' Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Jesus Adalberto Varela Cota

Jesus Adalberto Varela Cota, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 30, 1939, in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. A resident for three years, he was a cashier for a local retail store.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; two sons, Adalberto Varela and Rodrigo Varela, both of Mexico; three daughters, Carmen Olga Varela and Luz Yadira Varela, both of Mexico, and Ednna Marisol Varela of Las Vegas; one brother, Miguel A. Varela of California; three sisters, Cecilia Esparanza of Las Vegas, Rosa Caronel of California and Matilde Varela of Mexico; and 10 grandchildren.

Primmus Bartley Wall

Primmus Bartley Wall, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 7, 1932, in Mississippi. A resident for five years, he was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by two sisters, Lillie Louise Curry and Ray Ramsey.

Thomas E. Warnock

Thomas E. Warnock, 55, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A professional gambler, he was born April 5, 1947, in Detroit.

Kwade Zhotnur

Kwade Zhotnur, 60, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct 1, 1941, in Los Angeles. A resident for many years, he was a self-employed artist.

He is survived by his executrix, Virginia Saldana of Wisconsin.
