Letter: Carson City is ideal location for state capital

I read Erin Neff's May 19 column in the Sun about moving the state capital to Clark County as a meaningful commentary until I came to this sentence: "Every two years the casinos, the Southern Nevada cities and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce make all the decisions for the state Legislature anyway."
She is so right; she put her finger on why the capital should stay right where it is in Carson City. Clark County has well over half of the population of Nevada, billions of dollars invested in hotel-casinos, access to unlimited funds and compliant sources of promotional news about Southern Nevada. All it needs is the capital near at hand to guard against any independent judgments arising from the vastness of the rest of Nevada!
The periodic trips by legislators and lobbyists from the south to Carson City are good reminders that there is a whole other state away from the Strip, Fremont Street and McCarran International Airport.
