Man sentenced in girl's shooting

The last of three men who got into a gun battle that left an 8-year-old girl clinging to life has been sentenced to four years in prison with parole possible after one year.

District Judge Michael Cherry followed the recommendation of the Division of Parole and Probation in sentencing Eric Ogle, 29.

Prosecutors allege Ogle, Daniel McLeroy, 27, and Andre Lee, 30, got into a confrontation near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road Dec. 8, pulled weapons and fired at each other.

Karatoya Wilkes, 8, was struck in the chest by one of the bullets, but has recovered.

Ogle pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by an ex-felon and accessory to discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle and, or battery with use of a deadly weapon.

McLeroy is serving three to eight years in connection with the shooting and Lee received a two to 10-year sentence.

Woman pleads guilty in pedestrian death

A 33-year-old Las Vegas woman has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of marijuana in connection with an accident that killed an 89-year-old pedestrian in November.

As a result of her plea agreement, Deborah Fong will receive a three to 20-year prison term when District Judge Michael Cherry sentences her July 19.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Gary Booker said blood tests show that marijuana was in Fong's system when her car struck a median on which Stella Hutchins was standing, near Desert Inn Road and Cambridge Street.
