PROVO, Utah -- David Trujillo went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and a pair of home runs, powering UNLV to a 13-9 upset of second-seeded Utah in the opening game of the Mountain West Conference baseball tournament Wednesday.
Utah took an 8-0 lead before the Rebels battled back with six runs in the seventh. UNLV tied the game in the eighth on a Trujillo double. Eric Nielsen then drove in Trujillo with the game-winning run.
UNLV (29-28) will take on Brigham Young -- 18-3 winners over Air Force -- at 6 p.m. today.
Jeremy Weinberg picked up the pitching win against Utah, holding the Utes scoreless while allowing only a single during his 1 1/3-inning stint. He had one strikeout.
