Company plans television ads on responsible gambling
Thursday, May 23, 2002 | 10:58 a.m.
Harrah's Entertainment Inc. of Las Vegas will roll out television ads next month urging viewers to gamble responsibly. Two of the four spots feature the company's chairman and chief executive, Phil Satre, while the rest show casino employees.
The ads coincide with similar efforts at Harrah's including print ads, pamphlets and a Code of Committment practiced by Harrah's employees toward customers, Harrah's spokesman Gary Thompson said. The spots will run in markets where the company has a presence, including selected Midwest markets and in Nevada.
The spots aren't a response to any particular outcry or criticism in an area, Thompson said. "This is just something we think is the right thing to do."
Harrah's is likely the first among its peers to run television ads devoted to that theme, American Gaming Association President Frank Fahrenkopf Jr. said.
