Interested participants will have the opportunity to work with professional reporters, journalists, editors and photographers on a regular basis to gain practical experience in writing, editing, photography, event planning and production of a publication.
To RSVP or for more information, call Joanne Stuflick at 968-8136.
Art auction to help Guggenheim Foundation
An art auction designed to raise funds for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, the parent organization for the new Guggenheim Las Vegas and Guggenheim Hermitage Museum, will be Friday at The Venetian.
The auction features more than 20 world-class artists who have donated their original and limited edition artwork to the fund-raiser.
A portion of the funds raised will go to support the Guggenheim's famed accomplishments and the decision to make Las Vegas their new home. Individuals interested in attending the auction should contact Art Newseum at 407-5278.
Teens can join Devil Pup program
The Marines of Fox 2/23 will host the Devil Pup program at 8 a.m. Saturday and June 1 at the Marine Corps Reserve training center, 5095 Range Road, to qualify candidates ages 14-17 for camp.
The program operates under the concept that in spite of the challenges to the youth of today, they can: remain physically and mentally clean, develop respect for themselves, others and the flag, and constitute authority. The program also seeks to develop self-discipline and a sense of responsibility for one's own actions in teenagers under the direction of the Marines' Camp Pendleton, where they will spend 10 days participating in these activities:
For more information, call the Las Vegas Devil Pup Liaison Representative: Sgt. Matthew Fouss at 632-1507, Sgt. Richard Slider at 632-1511 or Sgt. Joe Alvarado at 632-1502.
