Tickets went on sale today for the World Pro Challenge, an eight-team international basketball tournament set for June 24-29 at Cox Pavilion.
The event will feature three teams from the U.S. (the Harlem Globetrotters, the Magic Johnson All-Stars and ABA Select) and others from China, Japan, England, Israel and Brazil. Johnson is likely to play for his team, organizers say, as will ex-NBA players John Salley and Ron Harper.
ABA Select will be coached by Las Vegas Slam coach Reggie Theus.
The foreign teams are: the Beijing Ducks (China), OSG Phoenix (Japan), the London Leopards (England), Hapoel Jerusalem (Israel) and Vasco de Gama (Brazilian national champion). Each team will play three games.
Each day of the tournament will feature two games (5:30 and 8 p.m.), and tickets are $20 per session. Tickets are available on the Internet (www.Tickets.com) or by calling (888) 464-2468. More information is available at www.worldprobasketball.com.
