The number of passengers who used McCarran International Airport in April was down 6.5 percent from what it was a year ago as 2.96 million people passed through the airport, the Clark County Department of Aviation said Friday.
For the first four months of 2002, passenger traffic is down 7.9 percent to 11.3 million people. But the gap between the number of passengers from last year to this year has gradually narrowed since the beginning of the year. January traffic was down 9.7 percent, February's was off 8.5 percent and March's statistics showed traffic down 7 percent.
Market leader Southwest Airlines was down 5.6 percent to 892,370 passengers.
