Union calls off auto dealer vote

The International Association of Machinists of Aerospace Workers withdrew its union election petition Thursday to represent 20 mechanics at car dealer Courtesy Imports in Henderson.
The election was scheduled for today.
Machinists Local 744 is in a recruiting drive targeting nearly 5,000 Las Vegas-area mechanics it claims are underpaid.
"We're pleased that the Machinist Union decided to withdraw the petition after the employees had expressed to the union their unwillingness to move forward at this time with Machinist Union representation," said Warren Nelson, Courtesy's attorney.
Boysen Anderson, Machinists' automotive coordinator, could not be reached for comment on the withdrawal.
