Feng shui anyone?
The Chinese art of placement designed to create harmonious living will be demonstrated at the Asian Pacific American Culture and Health Festival Saturday at Sahara West Library.
The festival is part of a monthlong celebration of Asian Pacific American culture being sponsored by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.
Among those featured will feature feng shui masters, Japanese taiko drummers, Asian foods, crafts and entertainment. Asian Pacific American organizations, clubs and businesses will be among the 50 exhibitors.
New this year are Asian health exhibits and demonstrations, Jennifer Schember, chairwoman of Asian Pacific American month, said.
Experts will discuss and demonstrate acupuncture. Chinese herbs, Hawaiian medical herbs and Hawaiian healing massage will also be featured.
Schember said there were many requests at last year's event, which drew 2,000 people, for Asian-health booths.
Additionally, there will be a bone marrow drive conducted by Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches. The Los Angeles-based organization works to educate and facilitate access to Asian and Pacific Islander marrow matches.
Other events being sponsored by the library district this month include a Japanese animated film festival, and on Wednesday the creation of a mandala (an art work made of colored sand) by Buddhist monks at Sahara West Library.
Monks from the Drepung Loseling Institute will perform the sacred music and dances of Tibet Friday at the Clark County Library on West Flamingo Road.
More information about the events and exhibits can be found at the library district's website, lvccd.org.
