Reid’s spokesman to leave
Wednesday, May 15, 2002 | 11:04 a.m.
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Harry Reid's top press secretary, Nathan Naylor, is leaving the post this week.
Naylor, a former deputy press secretary for Democratic Presidential contender Al Gore, likely will pursue a job working for a Democratic campaign, acting press secretary Tessa Hafen said.
Naylor notified the Sun on Tuesday that was leaving the office, but did not explain why. He was unavailable for comment early today. Reid hired Naylor in February 2001. Reid has had three press secretaries in the last three years.
"Over the past year, Nathan has demonstrated an infectious enthusiasm, an admirable capacity to launch new ideas and a determined commitment to Team Reid that has been rewarding for all of us," Reid chief of staff Susan McCue said in an e-mail sent to Reid's staff. "He is moving along -- hopefully to advance our (Democratic) margin in the Senate on a campaign -- and, as such, he will continue to be an asset to Sen. Reid and the entire Democratic caucus."
