Democrat Meyer files for governor

Dan Meyer, who operates a slot machine route in Reno, has filed for the Democratic nomination for governor, complaining that government is hurting small-business owners with red tape.
Meyer, 42, said Tuesday government must reduce its size and get rid of a lot of policies and procedures.
As an example, he said, state gaming authorities once processed applications in two months, and now the procedure takes six months.
"More procedures, policies don't hurt the big guy so much," he said. "Large corporations have accountants and attorneys they can throw this stuff to. The small-business guy, it affects them much greater."
