Cancer survivors run in fund-raising race
The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fund-raiser event, in which teams take turns walking or running the track for 14 hours, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at O'Callaghan Park, 601 Skyline Road, and continue to 8 a.m. Saturday.
The event provides an opportunity for cancer survivors to pass the torch of hope on to those battling cancer or those who might be touched by cancer in the future.
Anyone who is cancer survivor and would like to take part in the relay may call 798-6877.
Station Casinos will host Senior Forum 2002
from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Palace Station's Grand Ballroom, 2411 W. Sahara Ave. Guest speakers include former Sen. Richard Bryan, Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa and Clark County commissioners. The forum will also feature senior service exhibits, health screenings, workshops, food and entertainment.
The 2002 Imperial Byzantine Investiture
ceremony, in which six individuals will be honored, will be open to the public at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Venetian. Tickets are $250. Dress is white or black tie, uniforms, decorations, formal costumes and masks. The event will benefit St. Jude's Hospital for Children. For reservations, call 571-0404.
As part of the Downtown Cultural Series 2002,
the city of Las Vegas presents "President John Adams: A Performance/Lecture" at noon Friday in the George Federal Building's Jury Assembly Room, 333 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Call Nancy at 229-6712.
