CARSON CITY -- A Las Vegas man convicted of first-degree murder in the throat slashing of a prostitute has lost his appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court.
Ronald Collins, 33, was convicted in September 2000 of killing Agnes Ready and sentenced to life in prison.
Collins contended there was insufficient evidence to support his conviction. He said he was hit on the head before the crime and that he had been drinking heavily, and so he could not have deliberately killed Ready.
Collins' wife, Melanie, found her husband lying next to the victim in the kitchen of their home.
The Supreme Court said even though the evidence was circumstantial, there was enough to sustain a conviction.
