UNLV honors Olympic sports athletes

The UNLV Athletics Department honored its male athletes in Olympic sports at an annual awards banquet.
Tennis' Thomas Schneiter and swimming's Jacint Simon are the nominees for this year's Sportsman of the Year award, which will be announced following the completion of all spring sports.
Schneiter is the 2002 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Farnsworth Senior Player of the Year after posting a 22-7 overall record that included a 15-4 mark at the No. 1 singles position.
Simon is a 2002 All-Mountain West Conference First Team honoree in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay.

Golf: Ryan Moore (rookie), Clark Corbett (coach's award), Charles Rich (MVP).
Rodeo: Jack Vanderlans (rookie), Jason Robeck (coach's award), Charles Rich (MVP).
Soccer: Brandon Bain (rookie), Jason Melendez (MVP).
Swimming/diving: Patrick Adama (rookie), Travis Kummer (coach's award), Andrew Livingston (MVP).
Tennis: Aviram Salomon (rookie), Andreas Maurer (coach's award), Thomas Schneiter (MVP).
