ArtFest

More than 200 national artists present their works at the fifth-annual outdoor ArtFest of Henderson from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Water Street in Henderson. Call (888) ART-FEST.

Programs set

Super Summer Theatre presents Woodsy Owl Day, a family event with games, crafts, entertainment and demonstrations by Metro's K-9 unit, the Forest Service Fire Department and Universal Studios of Self Defense, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, off West Charleston Boulevard. Also at the park, from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, "Pioneer Women," with talks about famous Las Vegas womenand demonstrations in period costumes, is scheduled. Call 875-4141.

'Island Magic'

"Island Magic," a Mother's Day event featuring music, games, limbo contests, Hawaiian dancers and other activities, will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Green Valley Plaza at Sunset Road and Green Valley Parkway. Admission is free. Call 458-8855.

Heritage month

In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District will host a fashion and dance show at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Library Theater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is free. Call 507-3400.

Rucky Moten will discuss and demonstrate the ancient technique of henna body decoration at 2 p.m. Thursday at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. (507-3940); and at 3 p.m. Thursday at Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd. (507-3820).

Children ages 6 and older can learn origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Screening set

As part of the "African- American Perspectives on Film" series, "Daughters of the Dust," directed by Julie Dash, will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. May 18 at West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free (ages 17 and older). Call 229-4800.
