Celebrate Mother's Day by eating out. That way no one will have to cook or do the dishes. Brunches and buffets are a good choice for parties with young children.
Mayflower Cuisinier at 4750 W. Sahara Ave. (behind Borders Book Shop & Cafe) is featuring a Mother's Day a la carte brunch, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Among the many choices are: stir-fried chicken with a vanilla plum wine sauce ($12.95), roasted breast of duck with mango-orange sauce, steamed shrimp dumplings ($9.95), crab cake salad with a citrus-soy dressing ($12.95), grilled Kalbi-style ribeye steak marinated in garlic-soy sauce ($15.95), broiled miso-crusted seabass and a stir-fried seafood medley of scallops, lobster and shrimp ($19.95).
Available for kids ($8.95) are chicken strips or ribs or pasta (noodles). For reservations call 870-8432.
All of Gustav Mauler's restaurants -- OXO, Spiedini, BullShrimp and Sazio -- will honor mother.
A champagne buffet brunch at OXO at J.W. Marriott includes a breakfast station offering stuffed French toast and eggs benedict; an omelet station a choice of fillings; assorted Danish, muffins, croissants and bread and butter pudding; home fries; fresh fruits and berries; a Mediterranean station with many salads; a carving station with herb-crusted New York strip and maple-cinnamon glazed ham; many hot dishes, including Alaskan halibut, stuffed turkey breast, Romano-crusted chicken, fusilli with lobster cream sauce and beef tenderloin tips.

BullShrimp at Green Valley Ranch Station Casino offers a prix fixe Mother's Day menu, noon to 8 p.m.; adults $29.95; children under 12, $15. Included are a choice of shrimp bisque or salad, veal Marsala or roasted halibut or stuffed chicken breast; a lemon parfait or chocolate macadamia nut mousse. Spiedini at J.W. Marriott will offer its Mother's Day menu noon to 8 p.m. Choices are wild mushroom risotto or salad; halibut Florentine or pan-seared tournedos of beef or brioche-crusted chicken breast; tiramisu or flourless chocolate cake and beverage. The price is $32.95 for adults; children 12 and under, $16. A la carte menu is available, too. Spiedini has beautiful patio for al fresco dining. Request a patio table when making a reservation. The Mother's Day menu at Sazio at The Orleans will be offered from noon until 8 p.m. Included are a choice of Italian egg drop soup (stracciatella) or salad; chicken breast Florentine or fennel-crusted spit-roasted pork loin or fresh halibut; and dessert ($13.95 per person). Commander's Palace in Desert Passage at Aladdin is offering a special Mother's Day fixed-price, three-course menu priced at $35. A child's three-course menu is $12. Included are fresh fruit salad; angel hair pasta with marinara sauce or scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese grits; and a chocolate sundae for dessert.
Adult meals include a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert selection. This favorite New Orleans clone features a number of items not available elsewhere. Among the many possibilities: Eggs Sardou -- poached eggs atop a fresh artichoke bottom and creamed spinach; Gulf Coast seafood gumbo; grillades and grits; Eggs Boudreaux -- poached eggs served over shrimp, and an endless list of delectable desserts. Cafe Lago at Caesars Palace will serve a breakfast buffet ($13.99), 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; champagne brunch will be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a holiday dinner buffet, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Both the brunch and dinner buffets are priced at $21.99. Children ages 4 to 12 are charged half-price; children 3 and under eat free when accompanied by an adult. Lavish assortment of foods at both meals. Palatium buffet is offering a champagne brunch (adults $21.99; half-price for kids 4 to 12; free for children 3 years and younger) from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Flamingo Las Vegas will feature a Mother's Day feast in the Paradise Garden Buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Adults, $16.95; children under 12, $8.50. Among the highlights: prime rib, steak, shrimp and crab legs. Beef Barron restaurant will feature a chicken dinner special from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. ($13.99); Alta Villa restaurant will offer a surf and turf special ($49.99) -- a 6-ounce filet and 10-ounce lobster tail -- from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Paris Las Vegas will dazzle Mom at the very French Le Village Buffet. A special Mother's Day menu, served from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., is priced at $23.95 per adult; $20.95 for children ages 4 to 10 years. Food specialties from Burgundy, Alsace, Provence, Normandy and Brittany are included.
Fleming's at 8721 W. Charleston Blvd., will open at 4 p.m. in honor of Mother's Day. Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar promises to help make this Mother's Day "one she'll never forget." Reservation number: 838-4774.
Bally's Las Vegas will go all out with a special menu at Big Kitchen Buffet, served from noon to 10 p.m. ($19.95). A cold seafood station offering snow crab, peeled shrimp and smoked salmon; antipasto and salad bars; a carving station featuring Prime rib, roast leg of lamb and roast turkey are just a start. Chinese, American and Italian stations will offer dim sum, barbecued spareribs and Chinese marinated duck, veal piccata, grilled swordfish and portobella mushroom lasagna and scads more. Cobblers, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, puddings and mousses, mini pastries, cookies and homemade ice cream are offered along with sugar-free desserts. Price includes soft beverages.
Silverton at 3333 Blue Diamond Road (at I-15 and Blue Diamond Road) is offering a Mother's Day brunch at the All-American Buffet from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A Mother's Day dinner buffet is available from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Both special meals are priced at $14.99. Fireside Cafe will offer dinner specials ($10.95 to $12.95) that include side dishes and a choice of soup or salad.
No matter how lavish or simple the meal, the most important ingredient that will make Mom happy is being together on Mother's Day. Have a good one.
