NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

Fishing on Lake Mead has been good during the past week with anglers enjoying good success for striped bass in open water in the Boulder Basin and Overton Arm.

Anglers who have been checking in with area bait and tackle stores report they are catching stripers by drifting with anchovies and sardines at Black Island, Saddle Cove, Roadrunner Cove, Salamander Cove, Sand Island and the back of Las Vegas Bay in the Boulder Basin.

The good fishing that was found a week ago near Hoover Dam took a turn for the worse over the weekend.

Boaters who have taken to the water recently in the Overton Arm have had success for stripers at St. Thomas, Stewart's Point, Fish Island and the Meat Hole. Largemouth bass fishing has been fair in coves south of Echo Bay.

Channel catfish have been caught in recent days near Fish Island and in shallow water in the Virgin River.

Shore fishing has been fair for small stripers north of Overton Beach Marina. Cut anchovies has been the most productive bait for those fish.
