Goulet discussing deal

Thursday, May 9, 2002 | 11:06 a.m.

Entertainer Robert Goulet is in negotiations to perform at "City By the Bay," the $1 billion San Francisco-themed resort proposed by Phil Ruffin.

The resort would replace the New Frontier, and could open as early as 2004, assuming Ruffin can secure financing. Jack Wishna, a Las Vegas business consultant working with Ruffin on the project, said Wednesday he has been in talks with Goulet for the last eight months. Wishna was optimistic a deal could be finalized soon with Goulet.

"I sincerely hope we can get a deal done," Goulet said. "It would be wonderful for me. I want to stay there (in Las Vegas) until I die."

Goulet described the concept as "an eclectic lineup of shows, not just one person performing."

"Wishna asked me to be the focal point of this enterprise, and I was pleased to be given the opportunity," Goulet said.
