Arthur Andersen lost its third gaming client in a week Wednesday, when Las Vegas-based Acres Gaming Inc. announced it had fired the firm as its independent auditor.
Acres, a gaming systems manufacturer, said its board of directors has retained PricewaterhouseCoopers to replace Andersen, effective immediately. Acres said it undertook a "thorough selection process ... that reviewed several firms, including Arthur Andersen."
Acres said it did not have any disagreements with Andersen that led to the decision to ditch the firm.
Acres is the third gaming company in a week to fire Andersen. Harrah's Entertainment Inc. announced May 3 that it had replaced Andersen with Deloitte & Touche, and MGM MIRAGE shareholders voted Tuesday to fire Andersen. MGM MIRAGE officials have yet to select a new auditor.
