Savvy wine buys: Caymus ‘00 Conundrum
Wednesday, May 8, 2002 | 8:25 a.m.
Superstar winemaker Chuck Wagner has won every major award in the book, and his Caymus Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is arguably the most famous of all Napa Valley wines. But Wagner owns vineyards all over the state, and so he decided to market a white wine that is a blend of five varietals: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion, Muscat Canelli and Viognier, all of which require different climates. The result is this delightful, lush wine, which manages to be floral and faintly tropical at the same time. This is a large production wine, and it will be around for a long time.
Available at Las Vegas Wine Company and Marche Bacchus, $22.99.
