This has been a rough year for a 13-year-old girl both at home and in school, her mother says. The mother and father divorced, which affected the girl. Her grades slipped, but she is working hard to improve them.
As a reward for the girl's hard work, her mother would like to send her to camp, but she can afford only $10 toward the cost. She is seeking the Sun Camp Fund's help to cover the remaining cost.
A single mother of a 12-year-old girl says her daughter would profit a great deal from a camping experience. She says her daughter would learn independence, how to become a leader and participate in group activities.
However, the mother supports three children on her $26,000 annual salary and camp is beyond her financial reach.
"I cannot afford to send her to camp without this program," she says in asking for the Sun Camp Fund's help.
Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire and spending time around camp counselors who are positive role models are the memories that a child will carry with her through the rest of her life.
By joining contributors to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund you are making a difference in a child's life.
