Nevada Museum gives mining tips
The Nevada State Museum will present "Forty-Niners, Miners, and 19th Century Nevada," noon until 5 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, at Lorenzi Park.
The program will feature free children's activities, a lecture on Forty-niners crossing Nevada, the theater production "Characters of the Comstock," and gold panning demonstrations.
Admission is $2; children 17 and under are free. Call 486-5205.
Program planned Sunday at Lorenzi
The HBC Combo of La Nueva 103.5-FM and KLSQ 870-AM, will host a concert and festival from 11 a.m. to 6 pm. Sunday at Lorenzi Park, 3333 Washington Ave., to celebrate Hispanic culture through exhibits, displays, food and music.
The festival will also feature Kindervision, free ID and fingerprinting cards for children, face painters, balloonists and children's characters.

Honorarium Dinner set for Hard Rock
The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada will present the eighth annual Honorarium Dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel.
This year's honorees are Jack Novick, Liz Moore, Lee Plotkin and Wells Fargo Bank. The event will include a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by a gourmet dinner and awards presentation.

Henderson facility plans flea market
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host the Bargains & Barters Bazaar, a flea market-style craft fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive. Admission is free.
The event will feature homemade crafts and one-of-a-kind handcrafted items, including dolls and country-themed home accents.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas's Interfaith
Student Center will hold its "Night of Honor" fund-raiser to honor James and Mikey Bilbray at 6 p.m. Wednesday at 4765 Brussels St. Tickets are $75; $125 per couple. For more information, call 736-0887.
