Cancer survivor event on program
The seventh annual Susan G. Komen Las Vegas Race for the Cure Saturday will begin with the Cancer Survivor Recognition Ceremony at 7:35 a.m. at the Third Street Stage on Fremont Street, followed by the start of the race at 8:15 a.m.
The event will feature food vendors and entertainment throughout the Fremont Street Experience.
Proceeds from the race will support national research efforts and local breast cancer research initiatives. For more information, call 252-7223.
Citizens academy will host contest
The Citizens Police Academy Alumni North presents the Steel Plate Pistol Shoot at 9 a.m. Saturday at the North Las Vegas Police Firing Range.
The fund-raiser will offer classes that range from Open (revolver or semiautomatic pistol that is laser/optic/scope equipped) to Class C (for the beginner).
Registration is $25 per class entry and class buy-up is $10. For more information, call Bill Zuk at 870-4640 or Gary Komorny at 646-4030.
HELP's clients will benefit from race
The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors along with HELP of Southern Nevada presents its 14th annual Walk-A-Thon, beginning with registration at 7 a.m. Saturday, followed by the walk at 8 a.m. at Del Webb's Sun City Anthem, 2450 Hampton Road, Henderson.
The event will benefit people needing assistance in the community.
Registration is $25, which includes a T-shirt, continental breakfast, raffle ticket and goodie bag. For more information, call 732-8177.
