Sport: Baseball
Currently: A freshman All-American a year ago, West is in the midst of another strong season for the Sundevils. The first baseman has started 41 of 42 games for 26-16 ASU and ranks first on the team in homers (11), doubles (15), RBIs (48), runs (39) and slugging percentage (.695) and is fourth on the squad with a .338 batting average. Last season, he batted .307 with six homers, 34 RBIs, eight doubles and 34 runs scored.
Looking back: A key member of Silverado's 2000 4A state title team, West batted .384, .319, .603 and .488 over his four-year varsity career, earning selection to the Sun all-state team three years in a row. West also helped the Skyhawks to the 1999 American Legion state championship, blasting four homers with 10 RBIs in one game during the Legion State Tournament.
