Annual ball set for Saturday at Rio
The American Heart Association will hold its 16th annual Heart of Gold Ball at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rio's pavilion.
A portion of the black-tie event's proceeds will benefit research projects and further the outreach efforts of the American Heart Association's educational programs. RSVP, 367-1366.
Cinco de Mayo program scheduled
Rainbow Medical Center will hold a Cinco de Mayo Health Fair and Kids Carnival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday in the center's parking lot, 4241 S. Nellis Blvd.
The fair will feature free blood pressure screenings for adults, informational brochures, pamphlets and newsletters on several health-related issues, free treats, carnival games, face painting, a jumping machine, Mexican food and more.

Children can register for Las Vegas programs
The city of Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 Pavilion Center Drive, is accepting registration from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday for summer camp programs.
Kids Kamp is for children ages 6-12 and is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with three sites to choose from: Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way; Christensen Elementary School, 9001 Mariner Cove Drive; and Piggott Elementary School, 9601 Red Hills Drive.
Specialty Camps are also for children ages 6-12 and are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center.
Cost for the Kids Camp is $60; $100 for the Specialty Camps. For more information, call 229-1100.
Isight for the Blind holds fund-raiser
Isight will hold its second annual Good Old Fashioned Bar-B-Que from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Isight Center For the Blind, 1001 N. Bruce St.
The event, a fund-raiser to improve the lives of the blind and visually impaired, will feature barbecue food, entertainment, silent and live auction, and a tour of the facility.

Canyon Gate plans Candlelighters benefit
Canyon Gate Country Club will present its second annual Taste of the Westside at 6 p.m. Monday at Canyon Gate, at Sahara Avenue and Durango Drive.
The event will feature cuisine from fine restaurants. Proceeds from the event will benefit Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada.
