UNLV players take conference awards

UNLV tennis swept the Mountain West Conference player of the week awards, the league announced Wednesday.

Paulina Janus of the women's team was honored for the second time this season and the fourth time in her career. The junior from Warsaw, Poland, also earned the honor Feb. 5 and twice last season. Janus improved to 15-8 in singles by sweeping her three matches at the No. 1 position in the lineup.

On the men's side, Rebel freshman Aviram Salomon earned his first career MWC award. The product of Jerusalem, Israel, went 2-0 in singles this week, including upsetting No. 82 Andrew Colombo of Auburn in straight sets Tuesday, 7-6, 6-2.
