Suit dropped, company says

Wednesday, March 27, 2002 | 11:44 a.m.

Coinless Systems Inc. of Las Vegas announced a Connecticut company has dropped a patent lawsuit against Coinless.

The lawsuit was filed in Connecticut federal court in July 2001 by TransAct Technologies Inc. of Wallingford, Conn. TransAct, a manufacturer of printers for point-of-sale, gaming and lottery applications, had been seeking a declaration that its products did not infringe on a Coinless patent.

The patent relates to a system for verifying bar code tickets used for payment by so-called "cashless" slot machine systems.
