Metro Police homicide detectives this morning were investigating the death of a person found in a mobile home following an early-morning fire that destroyed the home.
About two dozen Clark County firefighters battled a 6:30 a.m. blaze at what was supposed to be a vacant home in the 4600 block of Hildago Way near Mountain Vista Street and Desert Inn Road.
It was unclear whether the person, believed to be a man, died in the fire or before it started.
A dog was rescued unharmed from the home, officials said.
Fire investigators said the blaze was suspicious, Clark County Fire Department spokesman Robert Leinbach said.
Neighbors said the home had been empty for several days, noting that police and the owner were at the site last weekend to evict the tenants.
The mobile home had been occupied for less than six months by a couple, their teenage son and a host of others who came and went at all hours, neighbors said.
Leinbach said the estimated damage was $10,000.
