A Metro Police fiscal oversight board Monday accepted Sheriff Jerry Keller's $319 million budget, which now goes to the Las Vegas City Council and Clark County Commission for approval.
The budget includes 75 additional officers to the nearly 1,950-officer force. The budget is $25 million more than last year's, but Keller said he needs more officers to handle the area's increasing population.
The budget also calls for hiring 86 civilian employees, including additional 911 dispatchers to handle the increased number of emergency calls, he said.
Under a formula of population and calls for service, the city of Las Vegas is asked pay 41.4 percent of the total and the county 58.6 percent, police said.
Earlier this month Keller outlined his budget to the City Council.
