HONG KONG -- Stanley Ho, an 80-year old gambling tycoon, named daughter Pansy Ho heir-apparent to his entertainment empire, the iMail newspaper reported, citing the outcome of a Thursday shareholders' meeting where she was appointed to the board.
The billionaire's sister, Winnie Ho, and another majority shareholder, Henry Fok, were absent from the meeting and opposed the appointment, the newspaper reported.
Ho's Sociedade de Turismo e Diversoes de Macau last month won a license to operate casinos in Macau, a Chinese city near Hong Kong. It has had a casino monopoly in the city for four decades.
Others licensed to operate Macau casinos were Las Vegas casino resort developers Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn.
