Safety tips will be offered at clinic
A youth sportsmanship skate-safe clinic will be 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Sunny Springs Park, 7620 Golden Talon Ave.
Youth ages 5-11 will receive professional instruction and learn skateboard techniques that are fun and safe.
The clinic is designed to teach measures to avoid dangerous situations. Trainers from Boardeep will demonstrate some fundamental skateboard moves and explain the physics principles behind the sport.

Homeless children invited to party
An Easter celebration is planned 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Leisure Services YMCA for homeless children.
Taking part will be children helped by the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Shelter of Hope, Shade Tree, Nevada Youth Alliance, North Las Vegas Detention Employee Community Partnership, Child Focus, Nevada Association of Latin Americans Inc., Catholic Charities, Catholic Charities-Regina Hall, Child Haven, Kids of Tomorrow and the Salvation Army.
The event will feature an Easter bunny, egg hunt, hands on crafts, face painting, temporary tattoos, a clown and basketball, along with food, cookies, candy and refreshments.
Free workshop set Saturday
Desert Demonstration Gardens, 3701 W. Alta Drive, is offering free gardening workshops to residents 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, beginning with a complimentary breakfast.
Linn Mills, also known as Dr. Green Thumb, will be among the experts who will instruct classes on landscape design, irrigation and water conservation.
Workshops on how to upgrade your yard to a water-smart landscape will also be provided. To RSVP, call 822-8584.
